The Hass Avocado Board announces its new executive committee for 2024

The Hass Avocado Board (HAB) announced the election of its new executive committee members for 2024. The new members are:

  • Bob Schaar, producer of Simpatica, as president
  • Jamie Johnson, producer of Simpatica, as vice president
  • Chris Henry, importer for the Giumarra companies, as treasurer
  • Gwen Jackimek, importer for Del Monte Fresh Produce NA Inc., as secretary

The executive committee is responsible for leading discussions and decision-making that will help the entire avocado industry address the sector's challenges and opportunities. The committee is composed of representatives from producers, importers, and retailers.

HAB also thanked the outgoing members of the executive committee for their dedication and service. The outgoing members are: Jorge Hernandez, CJ Shade, Susan Pinkerton, Ben Van Der Kar, Peter Shore, Kimberlin Brown Pelzer, and Will Carleton.

HAB is the only independent avocado organization in the United States. Its mission is to maintain and expand the demand for avocados in the country. The organization meets quarterly to discuss and establish business goals consistent with its mission and vision.

The election of the new executive committee members is an important step for HAB. The committee is responsible for leading the organization and helping the avocado industry continue to grow and thrive.
