China reduces its avocado imports, although it maintains higher levels than last year.
The Chinese avocado market closed week 43 with a 19% decrease in import volumes compared to the previous week, registering 17 containers originating exclusively from Peru and Chile. Despite this weekly decline, trade flow remains 31% above the year-on-year level, confirming that Asian demand continues to show a sustained recovery compared to last year.
In terms of origin, Peru accounts for 59% of total imports, while Chile contributes 41%, a share that reflects the shared prominence of both countries in the current campaign transition phase. However, both countries registered declines: arrivals from Chile fell by 30% and from Peru by 9%, which explains the overall market downturn.
In terms of prices, stability was the dominant feature. Prices remained at similar levels to the previous week, without significant variations. However, when comparing these values with those of the same week in previous years, a sustained improvement is observed, placing them above the prices recorded in the two previous seasons. This behavior contrasts with past weeks, when prices remained below the historical trend.
