China maintains low import volume, with Peru predominating.

The Chinese market closed the ninth week of the year with the arrival of 40 containers of avocados, maintaining a low import level compared to other international markets. Of this total, 95% of the shipments came from Peru, while Chile accounted for only the remaining 5%.

In terms of price, Peruvian fruit in sizes 18 and 24 experienced a slight decrease, falling from $5/kg to $4.75/kg. This adjustment comes after three consecutive weeks of price increases, suggesting a market correction following the recent upward trend.

As the season progresses, Chile has begun to drastically reduce its shipments to China, meaning that in the coming weeks Peru will be virtually the sole supplier of avocados to this market. This situation could influence price stability and demand, key factors to monitor in the coming weeks to assess the behavior of the Chinese market.
