China doubles avocado imports in one year, but prices fall 18%.

During week 27, the Chinese avocado market closed with the arrival of 116 containers from Peru, representing a slight decrease of 3% compared to the previous week. However, this volume far exceeds that recorded during the same week last year, with an increase of over 100%, reflecting sustained growth in demand or in the country's logistical capacity for imports.

As for prices, the market has shown remarkable stability. No significant variations have been observed compared to the previous week, and this trend has continued for at least five consecutive weeks.

However, when compared to the values recorded a year ago, there is an 18% drop. At the same time last season, prices were rising, which marks a clear difference in market behavior.

The current stability contrasts with the volatility observed in June, according to André Vargas, who points out that the Chinese Hass avocado market experienced marked fluctuations during that month. These variations are attributed to the inherent complexities of a market that handles high volumes of fruit, varying quality standards, and a strong influence from major producing countries.
