China increases its avocado imports, but prices fall again

The Chinese avocado market closed week 44 with a rebound in import volumes, although this was accompanied by a further drop in prices. According to estimates, a total of 25 containers arrived, representing a 47% increase compared to the previous week and 32% more than in the same week of 2024.

The supply remains heavily concentrated in two origins: Chile, with a 68% share, and Peru, with the remaining 32%. The weekly increase came almost entirely from Chile, which significantly expanded its shipments, while Peru slightly reduced its shipments compared to the previous week.

Regarding price behavior, the market showed a downward trend. Sizes 18 to 24 saw declines in their transaction values, falling below the levels observed in 2023 and 2024. This drop breaks with the slight stability that had been maintained for previous weeks and suggests a seasonal adjustment in domestic demand, although it has not yet established a clear trend.
