Chile and Colombia dominate the European market while Peru and South Africa reduce their shipments

The European market closed the week with a slight decline in imports, accompanied by a general drop in prices. According to the latest estimates, Europe imported around 602 containers of avocados, representing a 7% decrease compared to the previous week. However, the current level remains practically in line with last year's, standing 1% above the 2024 figure for the same period.

In terms of market share by origin, Chile leads by a wide margin with 56%, followed by Colombia with 20%, Israel with 13%, South Africa with 5%, and Mexico with 4%. Peru, although maintaining some presence, only accounts for 2% of the total, equivalent to 14 containers, confirming its gradual withdrawal from the European market after the end of the season.

This behavior reflects a normalization of supply flow, following several weeks with levels above the norm for this time of year. Compared to the 2023 and 2024 seasons, the market appears to have regained equilibrium in arrival volumes.

In the weekly breakdown, Chile stood out with an 80% increase in its shipments to Europe, consolidating its role as the continent's main supplier. Increases were also recorded from Colombia, Israel, and Mexico, while arrivals from South Africa and Peru decreased considerably, with the latter being the most affected, experiencing a 90% drop.

Regarding prices, Rotterdam records show a general decline across all categories. Larger sizes, such as size 14, were the most affected, with decreases of up to 24%, mainly in fruit from Colombia and Peru. Intermediate sizes also fell, although less sharply: size 22 saw a drop of nearly 10%, reinforcing a downward trend across the European market.

In Spain, the situation is different. Prices showed a slight average increase of 10%, with the exception of size 18, which fell by 1% compared to the previous week. Overall, the Spanish market remains stable, with no significant changes compared to the previous week.
