Chile debuts in the Chinese market with a 6% share this week

The Chinese avocado market saw the arrival of 34 containers this week. This figure represents an increase from the 7 containers received the previous week, although it remains lower compared to the volumes observed in previous weeks. Even so, the total is 6% higher than the level reached during the same week last year.

Regarding the distribution by origin, Peru maintained a clear dominance with 94% of the total, while Chile began to make its presence felt with 6%, representing the start of its participation in this season.

Price behavior also showed positive signs. Sizes between 18 and 24 saw an increase of around 29%. However, compared to last year, prices remain below those levels, with a difference of more than one dollar per kilo. Despite this, the rebound raises expectations of an improvement in the market.

Analyst André Vargas pointed out that the best prices were only achieved when factors such as a recognized brand and a preference for smooth-skinned fruit coincided. Generic fruit, even without chilling damage, lagged behind presentations with a greater value proposition. Vargas also emphasized that avoiding collisions during arrivals remains a critical factor in maintaining more competitive prices.
