Behavior of the Chinese avocado market.

Chile accounts for 92% of avocado shipments to China

China saw 25 arrivals, with a strong Chilean presence. Volume fell compared to the previous week, but increased year-on-year, and prices showed limited adjustments.

The Chinese market recorded 25 arrivals in week 6, primarily from Chile, along with one shipment each from Peru and Mexico. Chile accounted for 92% of the total volume during this period. In previous weeks, significant volumes from Peru had been observed, and in a couple of weeks, these volumes even surpassed those of Chilean fruit.

The 25 arrivals recorded represent an 11% decrease compared to the previous week and a 67% increase compared to the same period last year. No major changes were observed in terms of prices. Size 18 saw an approximate 8% increase, consolidating above 2025 prices for this same date and at levels similar to those of 2024, when at this time of year the market was already experiencing a downward trend in prices.

This trend was also observed in 2023, with a significant price drop as the volume from Peru began to increase. From a market perspective, André Vargas noted that January 2026 confirmed that the Chinese avocado market is extremely sensitive to the timing of shipments, more so than to absolute volume.
