Shipments to China fell in week 21, but a swift recovery in flow is anticipated.

The Chinese market experienced a sharp contraction in avocado volume during week 21, with only 14 shipments arriving from Peru. This figure represents an 83% decrease compared to the previous week, a significant drop that, however, is not causing alarm among industry players. All indications suggest this is a temporary adjustment, as preliminary figures for subsequent weeks show a recovery in flow to over 100 shipments per week.

This behavior suggests that the observed decline is due more to a logistical or commercial lag than to a sustained trend. The expectation of an immediate rebound helps maintain calm in a market that has shown consistent volume in previous years.

Regarding prices, the pressure continues. Intermediate sizes, between 18 and 24, registered a 9% drop this week, deepening a downward trend that has been observed since week 14. Since then, 2024 prices have been above current values, confirming a persistent gap that affects the competitiveness of supply in the Asian market.
