Super Bowl Summary: Mexico breaks record for shipments to the U.S.

The US market once again confirmed that the Super Bowl is the main seasonal catalyst for avocado consumption.

According to Avobook's data team, between weeks 1 and 3 of 2026 Mexico experienced a historic increase in its shipments to the United States, reaching the highest volume of the analyzed period.

Shipments increased from 1,153 containers in week 1 to 1,848 in week 2, reaching a peak of 2,144 containers in week 3. This growth directly coincides with the logistical preparations prior to the Super Bowl, an event that boosts avocado consumption in the retail and foodservice channels nationwide.

Following the event, the adjustment was evident. According to Avobook data, volumes fell to 1,980 containers in week 4, 1,827 in week 5, and 1,396 in week 6, reflecting the normalization of demand after the most significant commercial milestone of the first quarter.

Regarding prices—25-pound box, .48 caliber Texas—the behavior was particularly revealing. During the period of highest supply, prices remained relatively stable: USD 34.50 in week 1; USD 36.13 in week 2; USD 36.75 in week 3; USD 35.75 in week 4; and USD 35.19 in week 5.

However, the drop in volume recorded in week 6 triggered an immediate market reaction, pushing the average price up to USD 39.00 per case, the highest level of the period analyzed. This movement confirms the close relationship between supply and price in the US market, especially after an exceptionally high consumption window.

The 2026 performance, backed by Avobook's data team, not only sets a new record for Mexican shipments in the lead-up to the Super Bowl, but also demonstrates once again Mexico's ability to synchronize its export logistics with major milestones in the U.S. trade calendar.
