Low avocado imports to China due to intermittent Peruvian shipments
The Chinese avocado market showed limited activity this week, with no significant figures in import volume. This situation is largely due to irregular shipments from Peru, which remains the main source of the fruit supplying the Asian country.
In the previous week, China received 75 shipments, while this week only an estimated 13 are expected. However, this decline cannot be interpreted as a sustained trend, as an immediate rebound is anticipated for next week, with projections exceeding 100 shipments again. This behavior reflects the intermittent nature of current logistics between Peru and China, which makes it difficult to clearly analyze weekly trade flows.
In terms of prices, the market remains relatively stable. Despite the decrease in volume received, there have been no significant increases in sales prices. In fact, sizes 18 to 24 are trading at 8% below the levels reached during the same period last year.
The evolution of the Chinese market in the coming weeks will depend on the restoration of a more consistent flow of fruit from Peru and how demand reacts to price adjustments.
