Avocado market in China

Arrivals to China increase in week 3, but prices fall

Week 3 ended with 23 containers from Chile, a weekly increase of 35%, a year-on-year decrease of 18%, and a price drop of nearly 5%.

The Chinese market showed a similar dynamic in week 3 to that observed in recent periods. During the week, 23 containers arrived on the continent, all originating from Chile. Simultaneously, there was an intermittent presence of volumes from Mexico, although these were sporadic.

Compared to the previous week, volume increased by 35%. However, when compared to the same week last year, arrivals were 18% lower, remaining at reduced levels.

Regarding prices, a decrease of approximately 5% was observed. Prices for gauges 18 through 24 were considerably lower than those recorded during the same week in recent years. Even in 2025, these gauges were trading at significantly higher prices, nearly double the current levels.

However, it was noted that prices increased during the first weeks of the year. This trend is occurring within a context marked by the projected influx of fruit from Peru, a factor that is part of the recent market dynamics in China.
