Colombian avocado conquers the port of Belgium

“It is a milestone that seeks to better position Colombian avocados in international markets.”

Colombian Hass avocados have made their official debut at the port of Antwerp, Belgium, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of Colombian agricultural exports to Europe. On June 3rd, the first container of 20 tons of fresh avocados, grown in the department of Antioquia, arrived at Europe's largest port, opening new opportunities for Colombian producers to access one of the world's most demanding markets.

The arrival of Colombian avocados in Belgium is the result of a long collaborative process between CorpoHass, ProColombia, and Colombia's leading exporters to promote their best practices and high-quality processes. This was explained by Jorge Molina Duque, Commercial Director of Coltropicos, who attended the launch of the country brand, whose slogan was "Avocados from Colombia," a brand that embodies sustainability at its core.

“Last Monday in Antwerp, Belgium, the Colombian avocado brand was launched, accompanied by the Colombian ambassador to Belgium and the crew of the frigate Gloria. This presentation was made possible through the collaborative work of ProColombia, led by Corpohass, Colombian exporters, and clients from Europe, especially the Netherlands and France. It was a networking event, a chance to share ideas, sample delicious products made with Colombian avocados, and celebrate the brand launch. This presentation establishes a clear roadmap for improving the position of Colombian avocados in international markets,” Molina Duque explained to Avobook.

The arrival of Colombian avocados in Belgium has been met with great enthusiasm by European importers and distributors. It is expected that, in the coming years, Colombian avocado exports to Europe will continue to grow, generating a positive impact on the Colombian economy and on the satisfaction of European consumers.
