The Jalisco Avocado Congress 2026 brought together the industry

Ciudad Guzmán hosted the 10th APEAJAL Congress, where global leaders addressed markets, productivity and challenges in the sector.

The
10th Jalisco Avocado Congress 2026 brought together producers, specialists, authorities, companies, and representatives from various segments of the industry in Ciudad Guzmán, Jalisco, from August 26 to 28. Organized by the Association of Avocado Producers and Exporters of Jalisco (APEAJAL), the event was held under the theme "Leadership and Productivity for a Sustainable Future."

The opening ceremony kicked off three days focused on knowledge sharing, partnership building, and discussion of the challenges currently facing the sector. The program combined technical conferences, international market analyses, business activities, and field exercises.

International voices and markets at the center of the agenda

One of the central components of the Congress was the participation of specialists from various markets and areas of the production chain. For this edition, APEAJAL convened experts from Mexico, Costa Rica, Spain, Chile, the United States, Colombia, Peru, and France, broadening the international scope of the event. Following the congress, the organizers highlighted the participation of their speakers and their contributions to the dialogue on the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.

Among the names included in the program were José Antonio Castro Echecopar, president of ProHass Peru; Emiliano Escobedo, of the Hass Avocado Board; Álvaro Luque, CEO of Avocados From Mexico; Giovanni Cavaletto, of GLC USA; and Manuel Michel, of the Colombia Avocado Board. Their scheduled presentations focused on the evolution of international markets and, particularly, on the outlook for the United States and the participation of various supplier countries.

The agenda also incorporated a productive and scientific perspective through specialists such as Alejandro Facundo Barrientos Priego, from the Autonomous University of Chapingo; Patricia Manosalva, from the University of California, Riverside; Romina Gazis, from the University of Florida; Salvador Ochoa Ascencio, from the Michoacan University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo; Iñaki Hormaza Urroz; and Armando Equihua Martínez, among others. The program included content related to genetics, plant health, diseases, flowering, pollination, nutrition, and productive management of avocados.

From technical analysis to field practices

The second day moved part of the technical exchange directly to the field. Producers and attendees participated in practical exercises and field demonstrations, where they learned about solutions, equipment, and technologies applied to avocado production. The agricultural machinery demonstrations focused on tools designed to improve the efficiency and productivity of farming operations.

These activities complemented the presentations and specialized sessions of the Congress, integrating the analysis of production challenges with the presentation of tools and technologies applicable to orchards. The trade exhibition also brought together machinery and equipment companies, agricultural input suppliers, packaging companies, organizations linked to plant health, and other stakeholders in the supply chain.

Three days of exchange for the industry

The final day featured presentations by industry specialists and representatives, focusing on knowledge, experiences, and perspectives for the sector. The tenth edition concluded with a networking event at UTTSA INN TRYP by Wyndham, bringing together producers, specialists, authorities, and participating companies.

Avobook was also present at the event, participating as a media partner of the Congress. Antonio Villaseñor Martínez, Avobook's sales representative and brand ambassador for Mexico and the United States, participated in the event, representing the platform within Aztecavo's booth.

At the close of the event, APEAJAL highlighted the participation of attendees, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, and partners who were part of the three-day event. The organization particularly valued the exchange of ideas surrounding leadership, productivity, innovation, and sustainability—key themes that shaped this tenth edition.
