Avobook Report Preview W48-2024

China is experiencing a contraction while Chile remains the main supplier of Hass avocados to Europe

The global avocado market continues to show significant variations in volume, price, and market share by destination, reflecting typical seasonal trends. This report analyzes the performance of key markets during week 48: the United States, Europe, China, Chile, and Colombia.

In the United States, total volume received shows a 14% drop compared to the previous week, although figures are better compared to the same period last year. Prices vary by size, with increases in some medium sizes and decreases in the larger ones.

In Europe, the market remains stable with a slight 4% decrease in volume compared to last week, but with a positive trend compared to last year. Price dynamics reflect a market pressured by the supply of smaller sizes, especially in the Netherlands and Spain, while larger sizes remain more stable.

China is experiencing a contraction in shipments after several weeks of increases, with Chilean fruit playing a predominant role. Meanwhile, Chile is surprising with a weekly increase in its exports, consolidating its strong position in Europe, followed by Asia and Latin America.

Finally, Colombia maintains stable export levels, mostly directed to Europe, with projections of significant growth for next week.
