Avobook Report Preview W43-2024

Mexico increases its dominance in the US while Chile and Colombia lead in Europe

Week 42 brought a series of adjustments to the US avocado market, with a 9% drop in import volume and lower prices, especially for smaller sizes, which are suffering more than others.

Mexico continues to dominate supply, but Chile is also making its presence felt. In Europe, although imports fell 5% compared to last week, supply is 14% higher than in 2023, providing some relief for consumers. Chile and Colombia lead as the main exporters, and, interestingly, prices for small and medium sizes have risen, indicating robust demand.

In China, import volume fell by 24%, and prices for medium and large sizes dropped by 15%, reflecting market sensitivity. Nevertheless, both Chile and Colombia are focusing their efforts on the European market, betting heavily on their future in this competitive environment.
