Avobook Report Preview W21-2025

Peruvian exports grow 9% and are concentrated in Europe and the United States

Week 21 showed significant movements in the global avocado market. In the United States, 1,491 containers were registered at the close of week 20, 3% less than the previous week but 11% above the 2024 average. Mexico maintained its leading position with a 57% market share, despite a 12% decrease in its shipments. Colombia saw a 21% increase, while California and Peru each experienced a 14% rise.

Europe received 935 shipments, 7% fewer than the previous week and 10% lower than last year. Peru dominated with 79% of the market, while South Africa reduced its shipments by 57%. In China, the 14 shipments from Peru reflect a one-off drop of 83%, which is expected to reverse in the coming weeks.

As for prices, the 60 and 70 gauges fell by 8% in the US, the 18 gauge dropped by 7% in Rotterdam, and the 30 gauge in Spain fell by 26%. Peru exported 1,306 shipments in week 20, 9% more than the previous week, with more than half destined for Europe. With harvests concentrated in the coming months, pressure is growing to diversify markets to avoid a sharp drop in prices.
