Record volume from Peru and price adjustments set the pace for avocados in week 20

The global avocado market experienced significant shifts in volume and price. At the close of week 19, Peru reached a new export peak with 1,191 shipments, surpassing last year's weekly high and standing out as the main supplier to Europe (69%) and with a strong presence also in Asia and the United States.

In the US market, 1,535 shipments were recorded, 6% more than the previous week, with Mexico leading the way (64%), followed by California (22%) and Peru (8%). Colombia and Peru saw the largest volume increases, with rises of 39% and 30%, respectively. However, this increased supply has put downward pressure on prices, especially for larger sizes, where size 60 fell by 14%, while the smaller size 84 rose by 4%.

In China, prices fell 21% for sizes 18 to 24, after two weeks of increases. Volume from Peru also decreased by 15% compared to the previous week, although it remains 17% higher than the same period last year.
