Mexico dominates exports to the United States, nearly doubling shipments this week

In the second week of January, the global avocado market saw significant fluctuations in shipments and prices. In the United States, shipments reached 1,607 tons, a 76% increase compared to the previous week, driven primarily by Mexico, which accounted for 94% of the volume after doubling its shipments. Colombia, on the other hand, saw its share decrease to 4%. Prices continued to rise, with significant increases in medium and small sizes, reaching record highs for January.

In Europe, the 600 containers received represent a 17% increase compared to the previous week. Israel led with 30% of the market, followed by Colombia and Spain with 20% each. In China, shipments from Chile continued their decline, reflecting a weekly decrease in export volume. Meanwhile, Colombia experienced a 72% increase in its exports, reaching 174 shipments, primarily to Europe and the United States.
