Brazil projects a strong increase in avocado exports

The sector anticipates an increase of up to 60,000 tons, driven by new production areas and a greater focus on Hass avocados.

Brazil's avocado sector projects a 2026 marked by significant growth in production and exports. Driven by the development of new production areas in states such as São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Paraná, the country expects to increase its volume by approximately 60,000 tons, with up to 45,000 tons destined for international markets—almost double the amount exported the previous year.

According to data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics , São Paulo leads production with over 161,000 tons, followed by Minas Gerais and Paraná. In this context, the Hass variety dominates exports due to its commercial characteristics, such as smaller size, greater resistance, and better performance during transport.

Growth is also driven by favorable weather conditions and production strategies such as expansion into higher altitude areas, which extend the harvest window. Industry representatives emphasize that the key will be aligning production with the demands of the international market, strengthening the competitiveness of Brazilian avocados in destinations like Europe and South America.
