Avobook Premium Report 2024 w22

South Africa reaches a third of the market in Europe and California reaches a third of the North American market

The Avobook W 22 Report reveals interesting data on the North American market: as Mexico prepares for the final five weeks of the season, its market share has decreased to 60%. This opens up space for Californian fruit, which now accounts for a third of the avocados offered in the United States. Colombia and Peru have slightly reduced their presence, although they still contribute a significant volume, with 4% and 3%, respectively. In Europe, all origins have seen a decrease in shipments. South Africa is growing, accounting for three-quarters of the avocados arriving in Europe. Although Peru maintains its leading position with 55%, its share has been declining for several weeks. Kenya is at the forefront with 5.5%, followed by Colombia with 4%. Moving east, China continues to exhibit price instability: prices are higher than at the same time last year, but lower compared to previous weeks, across all sizes. The most affected is the 30 caliber, which depreciated by 20%, reaching $2 per kilo, a situation that had not occurred since Week 11 of this year.
