Mexico holds 75% of the market despite a low harvest

Last week, 19,880 tons of avocados were harvested, of which 16,615 were exported. This represents an 84% utilization rate.

The harvest fell considerably, mainly because producers decided to wait for better prices. With the increase already recorded this week, the volume is expected to rebound to 30,000 tons, a significant jump.

The area available for harvesting rises to 20,804 hectares, 5% more than the previous week.

Mexico maintains a 75% market share. Currently, the only significant suppliers are Mexico and California, although a greater presence from Peru is anticipated in the coming weeks.

Mexico continues to export fruit to Canada and Central America, as well as smaller volumes to Asia. Exports to other destinations total around 2,700 tons.
