Mexico gains ground: 66% of the US market
Mexico
Last week, the harvested volume reached 24,041 tons, of which 19,412 were exported. This represents a utilization rate of 81%.
This week's harvest is estimated at around 26,000 tons. The area available for harvest under the U.S. program is 27,579 hectares, 5% more than last week and 9% more than the same week last year.
Market distribution by origin:
- Mexico*: 66%
- Peru*: 17%
- California*: 15%
- Colombia*: 2%
Each week, Mexico has the opportunity to continue increasing its volume. The effect is already becoming noticeable: the reduced harvest in both California and Peru benefits Mexico, and we are in a position to meet market demand.
Regarding prices, we've seen very strong demand for .48 calibers and larger, which has caused an increase. It's very likely that prices will adjust in the coming weeks.
I wish you all a wonderful week.
