Mexico completely dominates the avocado market in the US
Mexico
Last week, 26,046 tons were harvested for the United States market and 23,681 tons were exported, with a yield of 90%.
The harvest was reduced due to weather conditions, as one day almost the entire harvest was suspended.
It is estimated that around 30,000 tons will be harvested this week.
The availability of hectares for cutting in the export program to the United States is 42,464, 9% more than last week.
Mexico now completely dominates the market: last week it accounted for 95%, California 3% and Peru 2%.
With Mexico alone in the market, it has not been possible to recover the price, which has been at historically low levels.
The challenge will be to recover a price that allows for a better return for the producer.
Have a great week everyone.
