New opportunities for Colombian avocados in international markets
ARTICLE
This week, the signals from the European market are becoming increasingly clear: they want more Colombian avocados.
According to Corpohass projections, Hass avocado exports are being balanced between the United States and Europe, with 50% destined for each market.
This news comes on top of reports from Mexico, where harvests have been lower than expected. This has opened up new opportunities for Colombian avocados in the US market.
Regarding domestic production, the sizes of Colombian Hass avocados are becoming more evenly distributed, with 20% being small, 60% medium, and 20% large. In the fields, producers are receiving creative purchasing proposals, ranging from purchases based on size to purchases based on weight at a price close to USD 1.20 per kilo.
It is worth noting that in the last week, the price of the dollar has risen by 7.5%, which represents an important factor to consider for the profitability of the sector.
Despite the political uncertainties generated by the ongoing reforms in the country, the Colombian Hass avocado industry continues to move forward steadily.
The quality, sustainability and competitiveness of the Colombian Hass avocado make it a highly attractive product for international markets.
It is important that the sector continue working together to fully capitalize on these opportunities and solidify Colombia's position as a leading global supplier of high-quality Hass avocados. With a booming European market, new opportunities in the United States, and growing production, the industry has every potential to continue its success.
It is essential that the government, the private sector, and producers work together to make the most of these opportunities and make Colombia a global leader in the production and export of Hass avocados.
