Mexico keeps pace: What's next for avocado prices?
Mexico
Last week, Mexico harvested 28,229 tons for the United States and exported 24,665 tons, representing an 87% utilization rate. This week, a harvest of 32,000 tons is expected, which remains a record volume.
The area available for harvesting has decreased by 10% compared to last week, settling at 37,000 hectares. Despite this, sales and consumption continue to break records week after week, although the farmgate price remains historically low.
Mexico's strong fruit supply will continue to be a key factor in the market, and we expect to have exciting promotions for Cinco de Mayo. Summer promises to be interesting, with Peru, California, and Mexico all in the market, so it's crucial that consumption remains strong.
I wish you an excellent week.
