Shipments of "Crazy and Black" fruit in demand in the USA
Last week the harvest in Mexico was 11,662 tons and 10,917 tons were exported to the United States, 94%, leaving little inventory in cold storage to be shipped on Monday.
This week the harvest started with a lower volume than last week, but I estimate that the total volume to be exported this week will be very similar to last week.
The volume that Mexico sends is very similar to last year, which leads us to believe that, as a source, we are complementing the market after California, Peru, and Colombia. We expect that demand for Mexico will increase when the harvest in the other origins begins to decline; this scenario could occur around mid-August.
The harvests in Mexico are distributed with 70% black and 30% local, this percentage will change as the weeks go by, by the beginning of August the black harvest will be practically finished.
In August it seems that the size curve for the crazy fruit will be more concentrated in medium and small fruit, 60s and smaller, let's hope that the rains and the weather help to increase the size a little.
The question is whether Mexico will have enough volume in August to make up for what California and Peru will stop sending.
I wish you an excellent week.
